Welcome to Quinte Wood Carvers

Exciting new things are happening this year at our show!

Hello my friends and fellow carvers. On behalf of our show chairperson, Karen Munro, I am providing an update for our show on 12 April 2025.

As a move to make the experience of attending our show a better one for you, we are providing an opportunity to attend a seminar conducted by Mr. Doug Stephans, to possibly enhancing your future carvings, we are having a fun golf ball carving competition and we have taken steps to have Mr. Dan Marquez, of Electrodent present for the purpose of meeting with all of us to address any issues we have with our rotary tools.

Firstly, Mr. Doug Stephans, who is an accomplished stone carver and has, during his career at Campbell Monuments completed some breathtaking stone carvings out of some of the softest and the hardest stone available. We are always trying to find various ways to enhance our woodcarvings and having our piece accented with a beautiful soap stone base could push our piece to the next level. Doug has the knowledge and ability to do so, and he has agreed to attend our show to conduct a seminar to give us tips and guidance on how to get started. We have purchased a separate room for this seminar and it will run from 1:00 to approximately 2:30, with space for approximately 18 people, at a cost of $5.00 (to cover the cost of the room). It may fill up soon, so please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested in attending.

Secondly, Mr. Dan Marquez who is a member of the Oshawa carving club will be attending our show and is willing to meet with any of us who may be experiencing issues with their mini rotary tools as his business is looking after the devices for the dental profession. Given the busy atmosphere of a carving show, Dan may not be able to look after the repairs on site, however, the purpose of this arrangement was to give all of us the opportunity to meet Dan and maybe make suitable arrangements to have your rotary tool repaired.

Finally, we are hoping to have a fun little carving competition where the competitors are all given a prepared golf ball to carve to which the winner will win a small prize. There is no cost for this competition but we may only have space for 8 to 10 competitors, so once again please let me know if you are interested in participating.

Thank you,

Rob Therrien
